Four Coffee Recipes for the 4th of July!

July 4th Coffee Recipes

The 4th of July is just a few days away and Americans everywhere are gearing up for the fireworks, sparklers, barbecues and more. No matter your tradition, July 4th is a day full of celebration. Even after the sun sets, the party is far from over – so you may need some help to make it through the day’s activities and still have the energy for the fireworks later that night. That’s where Barrie House Coffee comes in!

After enjoying the summer sun all day, you probably won’t want a hot cup of Joe. Thankfully, there are many different ways you can drink (or eat!) your coffee. Barrie House Coffee Roasters has gathered four coffee recipes that you can use to celebrate your 4th of July. We have recipes for the sweet tooth, the baker, the cocktail connoisseur, and the health nut!

  1. Affogato- The Perfect Ice Cream and Coffee Combo
The Italian Affogato is not only a beautifully delicious dessert but will be the easiest thing you make this Independence Day! This sweet treat only requires two ingredients - vanilla ice cream and Barrie House Espresso. Simply add one or two scoops of vanilla ice cream to a glass or bowl and pour over a shot of espresso. At Barrie House, we sell single serve espresso capsules, so you can make this delicate dessert for the exact number of coffee lovers in your family. 2. Coffee Cupcakes with a dollop of Red, White, and Blue
Get festive and creative when baking cupcakes by adding a cup of brewed Barrie House coffee to your wet mixture before you mix all the ingredients together. We recommend using a dark roast, so the coffee flavor remains as strong as possible through the baking process. Then grab some red, white, and blue frosting and you have perfectly themed delicious cupcakes!

  3. Irish Coffee Cocktail- the Boozy Option
If you’re looking for something a little stronger (and we’re not talking about the type of roast!), try this well-known whiskey and coffee combination. This iconic cocktail recipe varies depending on taste but generally calls for 4 parts freshly brewed coffee; 1-2 parts whiskey of your choice; 1-part heavy cream; and a teaspoon full of brown sugar. Barrie House Coffee Roasters offers beautiful roasts that pair well with whiskey. To get the best mix of flavors, Barrie House recommends darker and richer roasts, such as our French Roast Extra Bold, Dark Mystery, and the Heroes Reserve Courage Blend.

  4. Coffee Smoothie- the Healthy Choice
So, you already had a double cheeseburger, potato salad, ice cream, cupcakes and smores— yet somehow, you’re still hungry. You’re also tired and you can’t imagine eating anymore junk food. Well, here’s the perfect recipe to wake you up. Try a coffee smoothie with your choice of milk, half a banana, some nut butter, vanilla extract, ice and, of course, your favorite brewed Barrie House coffee. Blend it all together and you have a healthy snack that will keep you going into the night!

Barrie House offers a variety of roasts that pair well with all these recipes.
